03 / THE PISPITA LEGACY

A story of passion.
An international perspective.

PISPITA was never about breeding more dogs. It was about understanding the Shar Pei more deeply. What began as a personal passion became a commitment to thoughtful selection, lifelong learning and the future of a remarkable breed.

THE EARLY YEARS · BEFORE 2013

It began with a dog. And the desire to learn.

Before the titles, travel and show rings came a simple fascination with the Shar Pei. Its distinctive expression, temperament and history sparked a curiosity that soon grew into serious study.

Understanding a breed means looking beyond appearance: structure, movement, health, temperament and heritage all matter. That belief took shape long before the kennel name was registered.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION

Learning from those who have devoted their lives to the breed.

Relationships with breeders and specialists in the United Kingdom and the United States broadened our perspective. Paul Balmer, David Williams and Loretta Anders were among the experienced people who helped shape a more discerning approach to breed type and selection.

The show ring offered another lesson: an award is a moment of recognition; the true quality of a breeding programme is revealed through consistency across generations.

2013

PISPITA IS ESTABLISHED

A distinct identity. A long-term responsibility.

In 2013 the PISPITA kennel name was registered through the Royal Canine Society of Spain within the FCI system. Our principle remains unchanged: limited litters, carefully considered pairings, and selection that never puts appearance or show results ahead of welfare and temperament.

EXPERIENCE IN THE RING

Results matter. What they teach matters more.

Dog shows became a place to test judgement, study dogs from different backgrounds and measure breeding decisions against international standards. Over time PISPITA developed connections to championship-winning bloodlines and results across several countries.

Every champion deserves an individual record of its registered name, pedigree and achievements. PISPITA dogs’ own results will therefore be documented separately from the awards Blai Llobet has presented in his role as a judge.

BLAI LLOBET · INTERNATIONAL JUDGING

The experience of judging.
The discipline of selection.

Judging offers the opportunity to study dogs, bloodlines and interpretations of breed standards first-hand. International experience at all-breed shows and Shar Pei specialties informs the perspective behind PISPITA. These are connected but distinct careers: the awards pictured below were presented in Blai Llobet’s role as a judge.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Beyond a single breed.

From Shar Pei specialties to all-breed shows, meeting different breeds, breeders and dogs reinforces one belief: expertise grows through observation, comparison and independent judgement.
